CBZN Esports officially launches the Athena League, a female league to empower women players in the Philippines and foster inclusivity in the ecosystem. Athena League serves as the official qualifier for the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational (MWI), one of the biggest MLBB esports tournaments for female players.
The Athena League is an inclusive initiative that extends beyond any single game, encompassing competitive titles such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), providing a space for women to showcase their skills across diverse genres and platforms.
This initiative follows the remarkable victory of the Philippine representative, Smart Omega Empress, in the MLBB Women’s Invitational 2024, a milestone that demonstrated the vast potential of Filipino female esports players on the global stage.
Building on this success, the Athena League aims to establish a stable and prestigious platform for female gamers, elevating their presence both locally and internationally.
“The esports industry has long been dominated by male players, but the tides are changing. As competitive gaming evolves, more female players are emerging and showcasing their skills at higher levels,” said Joebert Yu, Chief Partnership Officer of CBZN Perspective.
